Art Bell got his dream job working for HBO after working with the government and CBS. That dream job was predicting subscriber numbers and wasn’t all that glamorous. Then he came up with the idea of a 24 hour comedy channel and that idea was promptly shut down. He pitched it again and Michael Fuchs, the head of HBO liked it.
