Episode 7- Mary Vincent

from The Vibes Were Off · host Kathryn Malley and Meg Irwin

Join us today as we discuss the incredible survivor story of Mary Vincent. She is an American artist and victims’ advocate who survived a horrific 1978 attack in which her forearms were severed by a man who had offered her a ride while she was hitchhiking as a teenager. Left for dead, she packed her wounds to slow the bleeding, climbed out of a ravine, walked miles to find help, and later helped identify and prosecute her attacker, inspiring victims’ rights reforms. In her adult life she has focused on her art, creating custom prosthetics, and supporting other survivors through advocacy and speaking.Resources:https://blurredbylines.com/articles/mary-vincent-lawrence-singleton-attack-survival/https://archive.vcstar.com/news/crime-survivor-speaks-ep-371969784-350886431.html/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Vincent_(artist)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_SingletonI Survived Season 4 Episode 1
