Summary
There's no way to discuss post-1960's spirituality in America without talking about LSD, acid, Lucy, etc. This episode is a less of a historical one, as I assume many you have already heard the tales of Hoffman and Sandoz, Haight Street and Leary- instead this episode is a complicated love letter and essay to an equally complicated hallucinogen. Along the way I'll let you know why I think acid is a quintessentially American drug, how acid has evaded mainstream capitalist narratives, and why this drug totally transcends simple/binary definitions and remains potent countercultural fuel to this day.
