Episode Seventy Four - LaShanda is shunned by Jehovah's Witnesses

from shunned

Kidnapped at the age of 6 years old by her mother, LaShanda's life had a rough start. Many around her were struggling with mental health issues, substances, and of course, the toxic environment of Jehovah's Witnesses eventually came into play as she got older. She felt different for issues due to race, the circumstances of her life, and eventually joined a group that gave her a sense of belonging for a time while all the while trying to isolate her even more. The song chosen by LaShanda to represent her story is Alive by Sia. Support the show by donating to the cause on our Patreon page, Patreon.com/shunned Are you struggling in some area of life? Lovecraft Stories by H. P. Lovecraft (1890 - 1937) LibriVox Howard Phillips Lovecraft, better known as H.P. Lovecraft, was an American author of horror, fantasy, poetry and science fiction, especially the subgenre known as weird fiction and many feel he is the acknowledged master of creepy, weird and unsettling stories. These are seven stories by Lovecraft that literally span his career; some being written when he was barely a teenager and one (The Shunned House) only published after he had died. Each story is unique and strange in it's own way but all of them come from the same mind that gave us the Cult of Cthulhu and other wonderful tales that generations now have enjoyed for their strangeness that resonates with our own inner fears. Some of these stories explore the depths of the human mind others the depths of human degradation and creepiness. I won't ruin the suspense by telling you which is which. Enjoy. Note that each story has a source E-link to the text for that story. (Summary by phil chenevert)
