Everything All At Once - 03-30-22 by Sokuzan - SokukoJi.org

from SokukoJi Buddhist Temple Monastery · host Sokuzan

The mantra at the end of the Heart Sutra, “Gate, gate, paragate, parasamgate, bodhi svaha,” is usually translated as “Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone completely beyond, awake, so be it.” Kobun Chino Roshi’s translation was said to be “Falling apart, falling apart, falling apart, nothing to do, everything all at once.” The translation of “svaha”, or “so be it,” is “everything all at once.” This encourages us to look at the idea of time; the idea of a past, a future. “Everything all at once” helps us to see how we are tightened down on time. Yet our experience is just this, just now. There’s only this, all at once. Prajna Paramita is the wisdom that has gone beyond, even though nothing actually occurs. https://youtu.be/K8qds4Sa-ow
