'Explosion' of fraudulent scams in recent years, Dail hears

There's an 'explosion' of fraudulent scams, according to one Donegal TD. It's thought that many people across the North West have fallen victim to various types of scams with fraudsters targeting households by texts, phone calls and online. Millions of euro has been reportedly stolen right across the country as a result. Speaking in the Dail this afternoon, Sinn Fein's Finance Spokesperson Pearse Doherty accused the Government of taking no action on the ever prevalent threat. He described the current situation as bonkers. Responding, Minister Michael McGrath says major efforts are ongoing to combat the issue:
