Thanks to Jim Crow Era Law, 1 in 4 African-American Adults Can't Vote in Florida's Primary State Felon Voting Laws We thank http://www.procon.org/  PROS AND CONS OF CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES We thank http://www.democracynow.org/ For the lead in to this story. Almost 6 million people across the United States are prohibited from voting as a result of state felony disenfranchisement laws that forbid those with felony convictions to vote. Florida has the highest number of disenfranchised voters. Over 10 percent of adults in the state cannot vote because they have a felony conviction. Nearly one in four black adults is disenfranchised. We speak to Desmond Meade, president of the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition. He’s also chair of Floridians for a Fair Democracy. He is an ex-offender who is still disenfranchised.  Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/howcee-radio-231-sixth-ave-beatrice-al--6405738/support.
