Finding Belonging Everywhere You Go with Khaleel Urrahman

Have you ever moved to another town? How about Province or Country? How about moving across the world? Moving to a new community, or country, is no small feat. Well, today’s guest has done that very thing many times and I believe he is an expert at creating belonging everywhere he goes. Khaleel Urrahman is a financial advisor with SunLife based here in Moncton and he describes his work as problem solving for people. We talk about Khaleel’s work, his journey all over the world and how he landed in Moncton, Pride, Diwali, poutine and so much more.  Of all of the places that Khaleel has lived, he chooses to make Moncton home. We dove into why he loves this place so much. Khaleel talks about how new Canadians can create their own sense of belonging by getting involved and connecting with others. At the same time, he offered great advice on how local folks can help newcomers feel more welcome here too.  When you ask Khaleel about Moncton, he immediately brings the conversation back to people.  “The feeling of community. When I go out in the city and I look around, I feel like there are my people… everybody that looks like me and not. They all feel like my people.
