Every environment that you are in creates its own hierarchy of power and within relationships it can dictate how you feel and the level of control that you have. There are five bases of power in every psychological power dynamic no matter where you are or situation that you are in. Recognising power dynamics prepares you to be able to decide how much power you have, how much you hand over and how you can overcome the control others have over you.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Reward power. When someone has something you want from them.  Coercive power. Utilising punishment, common in abusive relationships. Expert power. This is deference to others due to their knowledge or skill.  Legitimate power. Power which is granted by position and rank. This can also be linked to expert power, but rather than coming from your respect for their knowledge, it comes directly granted by structure. Referent power. This is when someone desires what someone else has. For instance, someone who desires a physique, social position or income of someone else and often wants to be close to and different to that person.   BEST MOMENTS ‘Understanding power has a much more significant purpose. It allows you to reflect and understand why you listen to certain people and allow them to hold power over you.’ ‘It depends entirely on how much expertise you think someone has and how much that you think they have more than you.’ ‘Ignoring legitimate power can come with risk but it only works in a healthy way if both sides of the dynamic agree that it works for both sides.’   VALUABLE RESOURCES If people want to order a copy of the book then they can just pay postage of £4.95 (RRP £8.99) - www.johnkennycoaching.com/podcast-book-offer Want to be able to create healthy relationships in your life? - Why not book in for a complimentary call and we can discuss how you can get the new started with some new types of relationships - https://calendly.com/johnkennycoaching/30min The Relationship Guy Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/the-relationship-guy           ABOUT THE HOST I am John Kenny, The Relationship Guy - Coaching people to experience healthy loving relationships.  Having spent a life choosing unhealthy relationships and self sabotaging my own success, I now coach people to live a life they choose.   CONTACT METHOD Facebook –  https://www.facebook.com/johnkennycoaching LinkedIn –  https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-kenny-coaching Insta –  https://www.instagram.com/johnkennycoaching/

Brother Blaq1-" The Relationship Guy" Rob Gregg My podcast is about relationships and family. My goal is to help people make the right choice in mate selection. The only way we can grow as people is to look at our own lives and confront the truth. The saying is true, " the truth can set you free!! When we are totally free from the past, then and only then can we attract the right "purpose mate". Together with Nikhil Chinapa Nikhil Chinapa Together is a way of celebrating the relationship between you guys, the community that makes this show so special, and us, the team that puts the show together. Together, we/'re going to do amazing things. The FootPol Podcast Francesco Belcastro and Guy Burton The podcast that brings together football and politics. We'll be exploring the relationship between the two, both inside and outside the game. The podcast covers "Big Politics" like politicians, clubs, international and national federations and other organised groups and how they use or abuse the game to "Small, Everyday Politics" in the form of community-level clubs, fan associations and the way that football reflects the political challenges of our day to day lives. The FootPol Podcast is brought to you by co-hosts Drs Francesco Belcastro and Guy Burton. The Billy Madison Show Cristine Billy holds a Master’s Degree in Business from American International University and attended Mankato State in Minnesota, but don’t hold that against him. He is a collector of Star Wars memorabilia, autographs (seriously), and a self-admitted ”dork” (but in a cool way of course). Derek is Billy’s ”right hand man” and offers his opinion on many topics but he will honestly admit he’s ”not a political expert or expert on a lot of things” and ”never went to college” but neither did Bill Gates (ok Gates went, but dropped out) but so what? ”Nard” (also known as Nathan) is a former listener of the show that was given a job after Billy helped him find a girlfriend. The relationship with the girl didn’t last but Billy and the guys liked Nard’s ”wit” and offered him a chance to be on the show one day and he never left. Nard has won over 50 Gold Medals in The Special Olympics and supports causes that help place special needs individuals in appropriate jobs and careers, just as he has done.
