🚨 FLOOD WARNING - Connecticut Weather 3/14 - Evening

from The Connecticut Weather Podcast

Good evening. Connecticut. I'm Aaron Jolly. Happy Saturday, folks. We're currently sitting at a pleasant 40 degrees under clear skies. Today's high hits 47 degrees — right where we should be for mid-March. It's a classic spring awakening day out there. As the sun sets. If you step outside tonight, you'll notice a bite in the air. Down along the coast in Bridgeport and New London, expect mostly clear skies. The low drops to 30 degrees, northwest winds will gust up to 29 miles an hour. Inland across Central Connecticut, including Hartford, the sky stays mostly clear, the temperature falls to about 28 degrees overnight. Eastern Connecticut, including Willimantic, also sees mostly clear conditions with a low around 29 degrees. Sunday brings a mix of sun and clouds. Highs range from 45 degrees along the coast to 47 degrees inland. Moving on. But here's the big story, a powerful storm system is targeting Connecticut for Monday. You'll want to pay attention to this one, a warm front lifts north Sunday night, bringing rain after midnight. We could see 1 to 2 inches of rain, this may lead to minor flooding of rivers and poor drainage areas. The wind is the other major concern, gusts could reach 50 miles an hour. There's even a slight risk for severe thunderstorms. Behind the front. Tuesday turns much colder, highs only reach the low 40s. The cold peaks Tuesday night and Wednesday, lows drop into the teens and 20s. Highs Wednesday struggle to reach the upper 30s. Looking ahead. Before I go, a look back at this date in 1993. The Superstorm of 1993 brought 18 inches of snow and 60 mile an hour winds to Connecticut. Quite a contrast to today. See you tomorrow.
