🚨 FLOOD WARNING - Louisiana Weather 3/14 - Evening

from The Louisiana Weather Podcast

Good evening. Louisiana. I'm Michael Mosby. What a start to the weekend, you're waking up to 69 degrees under a clear sky. It's gorgeous out there. We're gaining nearly two minutes of daylight today, so you really ought to step outside and don't get used to this. A massive weather change is bearing down on us, a strong cold front is racing toward the state. Sunday brings a risk of severe storms, then, the bottom falls out. Here comes a temperature swing of nearly 30 degrees, highs drop from the 80s on Sunday to the 50s on Monday. Moving on. Let's break it down regionally. As the sun sets. Southeast Louisiana stays mostly cloudy tonight with a low near 64, while sunday turns partly sunny and windy. You hit 82 degrees before storms roll in Sunday night, showers and thunderstorms are likely. Some storms could be heavy with winds shifting west and gusting up to 40 miles an hour. Monday wakes up cooler and breezy, highs only reach 57. The Capital Region sees partly cloudy skies tonight, lows drop to around 60. Sunday looks partly sunny with a high near 83, rain is likely before 10 P.M. Monday clears out but the chill sets in, highs reach only 53 degrees. Up in Northwest Louisiana, you'll see mostly cloudy skies tonight with a low of 61. Sunday turns windy and warm with a high near 82, showers and thunderstorms are likely after 4 P.M. Some storms could be severe, the temperature crashes behind the front. Look for a low near 36 degrees Sunday night. Looking ahead. Looking at the week ahead. Monday is sunny but brisk, while northwest Louisiana wakes up near freezing Tuesday morning. We warm up quickly by Wednesday with highs back in the 70s, thursday and Friday look sunny and pleasant. Highs return to the 80s by next weekend. Secure the loose patio furniture tonight before those winds pick up. — See you tomorrow.
