Flood Warning | Oregon Weather

from The Oregon Weather Podcast

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Oregon Weather Podcast — it's Wednesday, February 25th. That overnight drizzle left us with barely a tenth of an inch. Now you're stepping out to clear skies and 38 degrees. Feels calm. Almost spring-like. Don't be fooled. Here in the Willamette Valley, a brief rain chance lingers around 3 A.M. Then we climb to 49 degrees by 1 P.M. Winds shift from south-southwest to west-southwest around noon. Tonight's when things get interesting. Temperatures crash to 36 degrees by 2 A.M. Frost develops after that as skies clear completely. Down in the Southern Willamette Valley, same rain chance around 3 A.M. with scattered showers possible. You'll hit 50 degrees around 2 P.M. Then the cold arrives hard. Widespread frost and patchy fog develop after midnight. Lows drop to 32 degrees by 2 A.M. — right at freezing. Winds shift from north to east-northeast around 8 P.M. Push east over the Cascades into Central Oregon and it's a different story. Rain possible around 3 A.M. Then partly sunny with a high of 46 degrees around 3 P.M. But tonight? The cold front really bites. Lows plunge to 25 degrees by 3 A.M. Winds flip from south to north around 7 A.M. Around 10 A.M., it'll feel like 33 degrees even though you're sitting at 38. Quick heads up for southern Oregon. A Flood Warning continues for the Coquille River in Coos County until late tomorrow morning. Minor flooding is occurring. A Flood Advisory runs for the Illinois Valley in Josephine County until 10 A.M. Here's your week ahead. High pressure builds in and we warm up nicely. Thursday brings low 50s. Friday climbs to mid-50s. By Sunday and Monday, we're pushing 57 to 58 degrees. Stays dry through Friday. Rain returns Saturday, mainly central and southern Oregon. Tonight's frost could catch gardens off guard. Cover those sensitive plants before bed. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
