Originally from Lyon and recently relocated to North America, Nasty J has long been a driving force within sound system culture, notably through his event and imprint platform Leftover Dubs. With this sixth release on Noizion Recordz, he continues to refine the outlines of a deeply personal and ever-expanding sonic universe. As ever, he works with a subtle touch and an apparent minimalism that belies the intricacy of his approach, fusing instrumentation and subgenres that, at first glance, might seem incompatible. Yet through his instinct for sampling, melodic construction and detailed sound design, he guides the listener seamlessly from one environment to another across the four tracks. Like a lucid dream, the record drifts between a sticky, rain-soaked urban haze and expansive, contemplative natural landscapes, without ever breaking its internal logic.
