Summary

Colossians 1:16 — “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.” Romans 11:36 — “For from him and through him and for him are all things.” Why were we created by God through Christ “for himself”? Wasn’t it that he might love us, take delight in us, walk with us in intimate friendship, and cause his love to overflow our lives to the benefit of others? Had there been something better, more satisfying, more joyful, for which he could have created us then — by virtue of his intense love for us — he would have created us for that. But there isn’t. To belong to Jesus is the greatest good and highest joy he can possibly give us. And to flood every receptive heart with himself is his glory.
