Father Charles Azzopardi is the Roman Catholic Church’s new Bishop in Gibraltar. He takes over from Bishop Carmel Zammit, who - in keeping with Canon Law - was obliged to send in his resignation when he turned 75 last year. The Newsroom's Christina Cortes covered the press conference at the Cathedral of St Mary the Crowned. In King Charles III’s National Day letter this year, he praised Gibraltar's 25 year environment plan, which “places sustainable development goals at the heart of creating a greener, more sustainable and low-carbon Gibraltar." Environment Minister John Cortes gave us his reaction to the King’s words.A Public Sector Pay and Industrial Relations Framework Agreement was signed yesterday by the Government, Unite the Union, the GGCA, the Police Federation, and the NASUWT. The teachers' union says that its long-standing call to review the £50,000 pension cap will be considered. We had NASUWT President, Clive Barton in the studio.In sports Jose Mari Ruiz spoke about GFA’s second Euro qualifier against Czechia, gave a roundup of the fixtures, and looked ahead to the traditional Caleta regatta later this evening. And, each September mental health charity GibSams recognises Suicide Prevention Month as a time to raise awareness, spark conversations, and show support.
