from The Georgia Weather Podcast
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Georgia Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th. Folks, Georgia is running two completely different seasons today. The coast woke up thinking it's May. Atlanta woke up thinking it's still January. Here's the deal. Down in coastal Georgia, you're hitting 81 degrees this afternoon. That's nearly 20 degrees above normal for mid February. Soak it in. Southwesterly winds at 6 to 10 miles an hour keep things comfortable. But showers are likely rolling in later, so don't leave the umbrella behind. Tonight you're settling into the mid 60s. Still gorgeous. Now drive inland to Metro Atlanta. Completely different story. You're topping out around 55 degrees under stubborn clouds. Rain is likely here too. Lows tonight hang in the upper 40s. Tomorrow brings a nice rebound into the mid 60s though. Over in eastern Georgia, you're splitting the difference at 68 degrees. Rain is very likely, and those light northeast winds at 2 to 6 miles an hour won't dry anything out. Lows tonight drop to the mid 50s. Keep the rain jacket handy. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. A slow warming trend is building. Coastal areas stay toasty while the rest of the state gradually climbs into the 60s and 70s. Rain chances linger through Monday, then things dry out by midweek. That's the kind of forecast that makes Wednesday feel like a reward. One more thing. We're gaining 2 minutes and 52 seconds of daylight every day now. Sunrise at 6:32 A.M., sunset at 5:20 P.M. Air quality is moderate, so if you're sensitive, you'll want to take it easy outside. Alright. If you're enjoying these morning updates, share us with a friend who hates weather surprises. We all know somebody. Stay safe out there. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
