It commenced as a European funded project (European Network of Smokefree Healthcare Services - ENSH in 1999), and has since expanded to involve healthcare services globally from 2009.The organisation was registered initially under Belgian law (as ENSH-Global) and reconstituted as the Global Network (GNTH) under Swiss law in 2015.
