On this fourth Sunday in Advent, the last Sunday before Christmas, we look backward over this month and have observed several unique aspects of the Christmas season. The story of the birth of Jesus is truly a great dramatic event, but one which we have heard so often that it may tend to lose some of its luster because of familiarity. Today we will take one more look at this story, which has been called "God's Great Drama." Our prayer is that we may all let God direct the drama of our lives, as He directed that great drama of so many years.

Up the River by Oliver Optic (1822 - 1897) LibriVox Up the River is the sixth and last of "The Great Western Series." The events of the story occur on the coast of Florida, in the Gulf of Mexico, and on the Mississippi River. The volume and the series close with the return of the hero, by a route not often taken by tourists, to his home in Michigan. His voyaging on the ocean, the Great Lakes, and the Father of Waters, is finished for the present; but the writer believes that his principal character has grown wiser and better since he was first introduced to the reader. He has made mistakes of judgment, but whatever of example and inspiration he may impart to the reader will be that of a true and noble boy, with no vices to disfigure his character, and no low aims to lead him from "the straight and narrow path" of duty.Dorchester, Mass., June 1, 1881(Introduction by Author)This book was written under the pseudonym of Oliver Optic. Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne Loyal Books Jules Verne is the master of classic adventure tales. Around the World in Eighty Days is just more proof that his excellent writing skills put the readers right in the book with Phileas Fogg and Passepartout. Because of a bet by his friends, Phileas sets out to get all the way around the world in eighty days.Phileas is a rich man, but also very precise about his life. He wants everything done the way he likes and will get rid of anyone who does not do that. The wager starts when he is at a local club and begins an argument about whether a person could get all the way around the world in such a short period of time. He believes he can because a new railroad has been opened in India. Because he is so sure of his mathematical figures, he takes the wager and sets off with his new valet. He has a carefully planned route for them to travel by steamer boat and railroad. Their itinerary includes crossing the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean and
