Government approve Sligo to defective block redress scheme

from Ocean FM News Reports

It’s been confirmed that Sligo has been added to the state’s mica and pyrite redress scheme. Earlier this year, Minister Darragh O’Brien indicated that the county would be high on the priority list. However, it was confirmed at a cabinet meeting this morning that the government took the decision to extend the scheme to include Sligo. This now means homes effected by defective blocks can apply to the local authority to avail of the scheme. Independent TD for Sligo-Leitrim Marc MacSharry is hopeful that the scheme will provide urgent redress. While chairman of the pyrite group at Sligo County Council and Independent Councillor Michael Clarke says it’s been a team effort to get the scheme over the line.
