Grief Part Two- The Learning Within Grief

from Flip It

The experience of grief is one that will at some point touch us all, but how each of us express grief is both unique and completely normal. It can feel foreign, heavy and at times as if the pain will never pass. We are often told that time is a great healer, and whilst over time, the pain can subside, is it ever possible to find meaning and purpose after loss?  My guest this week is someone who has helped me to understand my own experience of grief in a completely new light. Dr Mary-Frances O’Connor, PhD is an associate professor of psychology at the University of Arizona, and believes that our brains can help us to turn grief into a form of learning, so that we can better know how to live alongside the fragility of life.  So if you are wondering if you are ever going to feel any better or if you are feeling stuck in your grief, I hope this episode helps you to feel a little less alone and to know that what you are feeling right now, won’t always stay the same.  If you enjoyed this episode of Flip It, I would be hugely grateful if you could rate, review and subscribe. It really will help me to discover and share more stories and voices that deserve to be heard.    Connect with Mary-Frances: https://www.maryfrancesoconnor.com  Connect with me: #flipitpodcast #FlipItwitLauraHearn Website: www.awaywithwords.media Instagram: laura_lhearn TikTok: laura_lhearn Watch clips of this episode on YouTube: @FlipItwithLauraHearn  Sign up to my newsletter and join the Flip It community here: www.chaptersbylaurahearn.ck.page/8ceb71fb87 If you have a story to share, I’d love to hear from you:  www.speakpipe.com/FlipIt www.awaywithwords.media/podcast   DISCLAIMER: The content in the podcast and on this webpage is not intended to constitute or be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
