This day annually marks the resolution set by the United Nations in 2015 to celebrate women and girls in science and raises awareness of the gender gap in the field of Science and Technology. The gender gap in science still holds women back. According to UNESCO’s Science Report, only 1/3 of science-based researchers are female. While >70% of health and social care workers are women, they are paid ~11% less than their male counterparts. But the world needs science, and science needs women and girls!
