Headliner USA E16: PP Arnold | The First Lady Of Soul
from Headliner Radio · host Headliner
We catch up with iconic soul singer, PP Arnold, whose musical journey has been a real emotional rollercoaster: at just 17, she was out on tour with Ike and Tina Turner as one of 'The Ikettes' (Tina helping her out of an abusive marriage in the process), and her success in the UK during the swinging sixties was significant - a great rendition of The First Cut Is The Deepest made the top 20, and she collaborated and toured with an eclectic array of artists: Humble Pie, Dr. John, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and Eric Clapton to name but a few. In 2019, she released her first solo album in five decades. We reflect on a career that's brought PP so much success, and continues to flourish.
