What comes to mind when you hear the word 'abandonment.' Perhaps, it takes you back to a difficult time and place in your childhood. Maybe you recall a story you heard on the news of a baby being left on the doorstep. Perhaps it reignites the pain you felt when your partner left you for someone else. Or maybe the humiliation you felt the time you spoke up at work and were immediately shut down. No matter what kind of picture the word abandonment paints - feelings of being left behind, unlovable and unimportant can infiltrate every relationship you encounter.  The word abandonment hadn't entered the pages of my own journal until recently when I began to explore the feelings I felt after a break-up. The more I wrote, the more I began to realise that I had been repeating patterns and playing the same old narratives over and over again.  Curious to learn more about where my fear of abandonment may have come from, and more importantly how I could rewrite my script, I sought the help of psychotherapist, Susan Anderson. Susan’s vulnerability and willingness to share her own experience of overcoming her fear of abandonment, has helped me to look at my own wounds with a new perspective and understanding of this universal human emotion.  If you are going through a heartbreak or a loss, if you feel alone or fear that you will never be loveable, then I hope this episode will help you to understand more about your own experience and most importantly how to recover from abandonment.  Connect with Susan Anderson: https://www.abandonment.net/   Connect with me: www.flipitglobal.com Socials: #FlipItwitLauraHearn Instagram: laura_lhearn TikTok: laura_lhearn YouTube: @FlipItPodcast Sign up to my Substack and and join the Flip It community: https://laurahearn.substack.com/ If you have a story to share, I’d love to hear from you:  https://www.speakpipe.com/FlipIt Hosted on Acast.
