Helen Petousis-Harris: Auckland University Associate Professor on Mpox vaccine figures

from The Weekend Collective · host Newstalk ZB

A vaccinologist says two reports of a possible link between pericarditis and the Mpox vaccine isn't a huge concern at this stage. Medsafe is seeking further information, and is encouraging people to report any adverse reactions to the jab. Pericarditis is treatable, and involves swelling and irritation of tissue surrounding the heart, causing sharp chest pain. Auckland University's Helen Petousis-Harris says while smallpox vaccines are known to increase risk of the condition, Covid infections are a much more likely cause. She says it's just a matter of closely monitoring it, which is happening globally. LISTEN ABOVE  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
