Helene Hegemann, 1992 in Freiburg geboren und in Berlin aufgewachsen, ist Schriftstellerin, Regisseurin und Drehbuchautorin. Mit ihrem Debütroman „Axolotl Roadkill“ (2010), der international übersetzt wurde und eine Debatte über Intertextualität auslöste, wurde sie schlagartig bekannt. 2017 verfilmte sie den Stoff selbst unter dem Titel „Axolotl Overkill“ (Regie & Buch, Premiere beim Sundance Film Festival). Seitdem arbeitet sie regelmäßig für Film und Fernsehen, unter anderem mit X Filme Creative Pool: 2022 inszenierte sie eine Episode der Reihe „Strafe – nach Ferdinand von Schirach“, 2024 folgte Regie und Buch der Miniserie „Zeit Verbrechen – Deine Brüder“ (Berlinale Panorama). Parallel veröffentlichte sie weitere literarische Werke, darunter „Jage zwei Tiger“, „Bungalow“, „Schlachtensee“ und „Striker“.
