Good evening. Kansas. I'm Michael Mosby. A powerful cold front is charging across the Plains. It hits tonight. Sunday brings a complete weather reversal. Northeast Kansas sees the drama first, while you start Sunday near 60 degrees. Then the bottom falls out, rain showers change to snow by the afternoon. Winds shift to the west, gusts could reach 55 miles an hour. Temperatures crash into the 30s by evening, it feels like winter returns in just a few hours. Moving on. Down in South Central Kansas, you deal with blowing dust, while winds gust near 56 miles an hour from the northwest. Visibility could drop. Highs reach 51 early, then fall to the upper 30s, you might see a rain shower or snow squall. But the wind is the main story. Western Kansas faces the strongest gusts, sustained winds hit 35 to 43 miles an hour. Gusts could top 60 miles an hour, it's windy and dangerous. Highs only reach 39. Expect blowing dust. Sunday night turns brutally cold, lows drop to 13 across the northeast. Western Kansas falls to 13 as well, south Central sees a low of 20. Wind chills make it feel like single digits. Temperature-wise. Monday stays frigid. Northeast Kansas tops out at 30 degrees, while western Kansas warms to 43. South Central reaches 40. Winds remain gusty. Then comes the turnaround, tuesday brings a warm-up. We reach the 60s, wednesday jumps to the 70s. By Thursday. Here comes 80 degrees, friday stays sunny and warm near 80. As the sun sets.
