He is best known for his role in the Texas Revolution and his death at the Battle of the Alamo.Crockett was born in Tennessee and grew up on the frontier. He was a skilled hunter and woodsman, and he quickly became known for his bravery and his ability to survive in the wilderness.In 1813, Crockett joined the Tennessee militia and fought in the Creek War. He served with distinction and was promoted to colonel.After the war, Crockett entered politics.
