God's pleasure is not something sons work toward. Destiny is distinguished sharply here from material ambition. Cars, wealth, and comfort are not the inheritance. Being God's heritage portion in Christ is. Ephesians 2:10 then grounds the practical question: good works are not the ladder sons climb toward acceptance but the Spirit-led life that flows from a goodness already established by God before the foundation of the world.
