Honesty vs Oversharing: is it ok to keep secrets?

Does sharing your life with someone mean being always honest? What if your 'past love' skeletons have the potential to harm your new relationships? What is a comfortable level of sharing? Do you need to tell your date about your strange little habits and/or a one-night stand in college?
