Unnecessary Roughness: Part 1
Release Date: 09/08/2021
Description: Welcome to episode 5 of YOU DON'T KNOW. To celebrate the start of the 2021 NFL season we have produced this special recording of a collaborative project which began at the start of the 2018 season. The episode features two sets of writing which run throughout, in tandem. The first, a series of found poems written by Lizzy using the commentary from NFL games as her source. Secondly, David has written prose responses to these poems. This, Part 1, contains a condensed version of the project with swearing 'bleeped' out. For the full, 'un-bleeped' version download Part 2 of this episode. Please be aware that this episode contains references to both physical and verbal violence, with some injury detail, and also references to discrimination against marginalised groups. This episode is accompanied by a spiral bound 'playbook' containing the text featured in the recording alongside illustrations. The print can be bought for £8 plus packing and postage from our website. 10% of all web shop sales will be donated to the Eat or Heat Foodbank in Walthamstow. A full episode transcript can be downloaded from our website. Find Lizzy on Twitter here. More audio from David here.
