How Can I BEAT My Team Mate? TRDC SHOW Ep #27
from The Race Driver Coach by Enzo Mucci · host Enzo Mucci
All too often race drivers get caught up in the game of proving themselves by beating their team mate. They are happy if they manage it and depressed if they don't. It becomes their yard stick that let's them know whether they are worthy or not, or whether they have done a good job on a particular race weekend.I am here to remind you of what is important for your racing and how focusing on your team mate is a self defeating objective and will cause you to under-perform and become stressed. This episode was inspired by this question from Lewis:“Hi Enzo, already for next season I have told that I must beat my team mate in order to continue racing.I’m turning to you for some advice on how best to go about this.I’m sure you have come up against this before”Thank you Lewis. The best way to beat your team mate is to beat yourself, to put all the emphasis on you and to only be concerned with your own performance. Do not allow anyone or anything distract you from what is important. You must only focus on things that are within your control and your team mate isn't one of those things.I will explain more in this video. This is an important topic that so many drivers let themselves down with. Bringing others down will never help you become a champion.RegardsEnzo
