How Could This Happen? (SERIES: Get Off 0)

from Bedford Community Church · host Bedford Community Church

It shows up on the news, another shooting, another tragedy. It often shocks us to our core, leaving many to ask, How could this happen? We grieve for the victims and search for reasons to explain what went wrong. But what if, in many ways, our culture’s relationship with violence has inadvertently laid the groundwork for these events to occur? The glorification of violence in entertainment to a desensitization toward suffering in the world. We’re horrified by the news but over exposed to aggressive action, violent content, and a disregard for human life on a regular basis. While we condemn acts of mass violence in the moment, what if our hearts are unknowingly inclining us to a world that diminishes the value of life and perpetuates cycles of anger, retribution, and division?Join us this Sunday as we examine a murder from the very beginning of humanity’s story. We’ll uncover deeper truths about the human heart and how violence shapes the world, in ancient times and in our own. Through this powerful story, perhaps God is offering us lessons that can lead us toward real, lasting peace. It’s not just about understanding the past—it’s about discovering a path forward, one that helps us break free from the cycles of violence we seem stuck in.  Join us on Sunday at 9:15 am.www.bedfordcommunitychurch.org
