Entrepreneurship saved my life. It allowed me to shape my work schedule according to my energy levels and way my unique brain works. It’s easy to feel like a failure as an Black Neurodivergent woman living in a world created for white neurotypical men! When we try to do things in a way that doesn’t work for us, we burn out. In fact, we are more susceptible to burn out because of the added burden of constantly trying to mask our symptoms and be a “culture fit”. I knew if I didn’t learn how to earn a good income on my own terms, I was going to end up unhoused, drug addicted or dead. Thank God I found a way to survive in my terms.
