How I Approached Grieving with Euthanizing Our Dog, Bubba..

from Always on the GROW with Manny Vargas

We go through suffering, right?   Yes, we all experience pain and grief.   Maybe you've lost a boyfriend, or you've lost an animal. We lose people that we love, things that we love, animals that we love and therefore there are tremendous experiences of that loss and it is not the nicest thing on the planet to experience.   Because, we have those bonds with people and with our most beloved animals.   But this experience of mine, it was so sudden. It was a big thing for me that startled me and really broke me down.   Bubba was a big old bulldog with a face that only an owner could love, because that boy had a grin on him with an underbite that nobody could like unless you had love for that big guy, the handsome devil. He's just so sweet, kind, and loving all the time. Truly a man's best friend.   He was my dog, my dad's dog. He was the family dog. He was just one that brought everybody together.   About the incident   8 year old Bubba has been with us ever since I was running restaurants and these last 5 years since I've been sober. Suddenly Bubba started to have health issues. His stomach started to look awkward as it was growing outward. He was just panting for no apparent reasons.   After been taken to the Vet and after some blood samples and X-ray, it was discovered he was developing cancer.   In a few weeks the cancer developed into a big bummer. It has metastasized to other areas of his body.   There were just 2 choices: Have a surgery and remove the mass that is pushing his whole stomach and intestines to one side of the body and give him chemotherapy, or take him through Euthanasia (put him down)   So, what happened next? And what's all this fuss about a dog?   Why dedicate an episode for him?   Is there a lesson or two for us humans to learn from him? If yes, what could the lessons be…   Listen up to understand how I dealt with the grief of having to put this dog down, and surprisingly came up with a new understanding on life. There are lessons that you could implement in your personal life when you're in times of pain and suffering.   Insights from the Episode:   It's really about understanding and detail, and having definition   People that aren't in control of themselves and haven't worked on themselves tediously over a period of time would have those strong reactions when there is very heartbreaking news   When you do certain things in life it almost has this irony in it, where it rewards you in unexplainable ways   When in pain and suffering; feel free to let loose your emotions and cry and let it flow through you, because that was probably the best thing that you could do   I had developed myself in a way where I've healed lots of pain in my life in the last 5 years to come to this place where there's tranquility   Surround yourself with people. Reach out and find support. Do not hold anything back   There's always a blessing in every distressed situation   Life is always unfolding, and that's never going to be the last time that we have to experience difficulty   We truly have the power to be stronger than the certain adversities we're facing   If you've been through adversity and you're still fighting and going through and you're still moving forward, then something tells me you're a Stoic
