How to GIVE God The BEST You HAVE, Pt. 2
from Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church · host Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church
1 Chronicles 29:14-15; Selected Scriptures By D.Z. Cofield, Th.M., D. Min. December 12, 2021 Scripture Reading: Psalm 8:1-9 (ESV) – O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. 3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? 5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, 7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, 8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. 9 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Deuteronomy 10:14 (NLT) – Look, the highest heavens and the earth and everything in it all belong to the LORD your God. Job 33:6 (NLT) – Look, you and I both belong to God. I, too, was formed from clay. 1. You need to realize when you give you are only giving BACK to God what He FIRST gave to YOU (v. 14) 1 Chronicles 29:14 (NLT) – But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us! Deuteronomy 8:17-18 (NRSV) – Do not say to yourself, “My power and the might of my own hand have gotten me this wealth.” 18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, so that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your ancestors, as he is doing today. 2. You need to do ALL you can with what GOD has given you while you have the CHANCE (v. 15) 1 Chronicles 29:15 (NLT) – We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace. Psalm 39:4-6 (NLT) – “LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered — how fleeting my life is. 5 You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath.” Interlude 6 We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth, not knowing who will spend it.”
