Hello hello, this is Joshua Cape Johnson speaking on behalf for branding Don FM today We're going to talk to you about the common issues of a small business owner and what to do against your competitors What are you gonna do against your competitors? But first before we go into that I want to recommend a really cool tool that any small business owner needs to have if they're entering into the digital space and this can be used to research topics trending topics trending Products and services and just really trending anything what's going up? What's going down? And so if you're opening up an e-commerce or leveraging the platform of Amazon and wanting to sell products on there We're just simply offering a new product or service for your local life business This tool is a must-have and you've probably heard of it before if you haven't it's called Google Trends So Google that in and I want to just have you walk with me right now if you're not in front of your computer Just listening to this on your smartphone Then that's cool too.

Maybe come back to the to this podcast a session and you can do it real quick with us But basically go to Google Trends when you land there you're gonna see like a cool jazzy Home page with all everything that's trending off to the right you're gonna see a map and things like that But let's go to step one inside Google Trends. You'll see a search bar and so what we're gonna do is we're gonna just do an example So let's say moving Service So we'll do moving service. Okay, so let's say you're a moving service and you basically you help people move All right, I'm going to push enter on that and we'll see if we get anything So moving service and now what you're gonna see is a totally different chart and you're gonna see a map down below I want you to use this map first before doing anything else and I want you to click on the United States So once you click on the United States now you're going to see a unique State-by-state map of the United States So it's it's what we're doing here is we're continuing to Zero in on the targets of the demographics of the map the United States here. So now we get to choose our state Let's say that you live in the state of Texas.

So we're gonna click on Texas on the map. Okay, great now You're going to see individualized Counties basically inside the state of Texas now if you type in a specific niche and you don't see The breakdown of maps it just simply means that there's not enough traffic for that specific niche And so you can you can but you can still use the research to gain kind of some cutting-edge information as far as you're researching your market So now we're gonna continue we're gonna click on Dallas Fort Worth, Texas Because that's where the most search volume is coming from just for the sake of this this instructional here now It's going to break it down by the area inside of That what I just clicked on so we have Plano, Texas Dallas forgive me. Texas people if I pronounce that wrong We have Dallas and Richardson Plano being the most of those areas. So what I just did here I don't know if you realize how fast that happened, but basically if you're in Fort Worth, Texas and you're a moving company It's showing me that Plano, Texas is the hottest market for moving and so if you're if you're in business in that area well That's the first place that you want to target for your AdWords for your Facebook advertising And build a landing page before you use any advertising platform though You want to build a custom squeeze page a landing page that's directly related to that area make sure that that landing page is customized It's got great content that describes the Plano area of Texas Show some history about it show people why people have moved there and why they're moving out of there Give case studies and scenarios or some testimony and some images and some video and some audio fees and just really just just Just knock it out of the park and I'm telling you guys if you focus on researching your market first finding where that traffic comes from and then builds your landing page and make that landing page beautiful for that targeting that specific market in that specific geo-located area that you just did research it on you are already a Hundred miles ahead and seven years ahead of your competitors.

I guarantee it So that's the Google Trends tool use it and use it well and Honestly, you can if you're marketing products on Amazon and you want to find out like if you're wanting to launch a new product and let's say it's Organic free trade green coffee bean extract well research it first to see like obviously We know like green coffee bean extract like is is Trent You know It's been hot on the market But are the trends of it going down and that would really suck if you if you launched a product and 90 days later The trends are completely fizzling out and now you've poured 10 grand into launching a product and and all that time and effort And it's you know the markets basically squeezing itself out and onto something else maybe now it's into blue mountain Jamaica coffee Okay, so you want to make sure that you research your market before Anything anything in any business any product. It doesn't matter what you're doing always always always research your market use Google Trends should be your starting point for anything and Obviously want to use some type of keyword Research tool beyond that the first market the demographics and the geo targeted locations of the niche that you're thinking of getting into It's very very important and highly recommended you will waste you will literally throw away Ten's Thousands maybe hundreds of thousands and years upon years of time if you're not researching your market and you don't know what your market Wants and what the need is for your market because if you're trying to provide a solution or a product or service for a market that doesn't even exist Then how can you expect to be successful? So I know that you don't want to throw away tons of cash You don't want to waste a ton of your time otherwise you might as well go work at Burger King, okay? So make sure you do your research and that's my two cents on that okay?

We also want to make sure that you're taking advantage of Facebook advertising, okay, we'll get more into that a little bit later but basically Facebook marketing their advertising platform is getting so powerful is Beyond belief is the most powerful advertising platform that we've seen in the history of digital space and Mark my words. I tell you what usually not the type to say this because I don't like being wrong a lot of times But Facebook's stock right now. I think it's like 54 something I I honestly think that in two or three years is going to be up in a two three hundred three hundred plus range So get some Facebook stock if you've got cash lying around and you're wondering what to do with it by Facebook stock It's an old rainer. So we have a comment from John He's from Net Sound Audio in red in California and I was actually I met him yesterday And we were in a little conversation And I was introduced I was kind of telling a little about what what I do and was asking him why he did and stuff It's very intriguing to me that he's in a mobile audio service business where he goes to events like wedding events and DJs and thing and he's basically the DJ and The conversation kind of went like this he started asking me some questions and he said I'm kind of like Reiterating here, but paraphrasing it says what do you recommend for a small business owner?

This is this is John asking me He said what do you recommend for a small business owner like myself? That doesn't really have a marketing budget as my competitors do He says I've been trying to figure out a way to leverage our services Leverage our brand name in our area and stand out and I want to become kind of a new authority in town But I have no idea where to start. I have a website I've built it off of Squarespace and I have a Facebook fan page But I really don't know what to do with it after beyond that point. So it's a great concern, right?

It's a great issue. It's not a great issue It's horrible issue to have really because Small business owners are kind of lost and really the direction that they need to take as a small business owner They they know that they need to get a website and only half of them have one and the half of them that do only 6% of them Are mobile and even out of those people they really don't know what to do beyond that as far as becoming their own content marketing content syndication platform Which by the way if you're a business owner you need to be your content You need to be the one that's originated that where the content is originating from and so it went like this My answer to him went like this. I said well you have Squarespace correct and he said yes I said you have a Facebook fan page. Yes.

He says yes. I said that's simple Here's what you do you choose you make the choice to be consistent number one number two you take video and images and audio of Everything that you're doing every single gig everything and obviously There's probably some legality issues of photographs and video of private events But most of his events he can take images and snapshots of what he's doing right? So now he's doing all this from his smartphone Hello, everybody's got a smartphone on their pocket in their pocket right? So it takes some images in their smartphone if you have an iPhone I favor the iPhone because I still think that the the software the internal software and the optics on the cameras completely Blowdoors off of Samsung's and all the other products so he happened to have an iPhone So I kind of stood him in this direction I said okay, here's what you do first I said start taking decide that you're gonna be consistent and start taking images and snapshots Video and audio of everything that you're doing and once you get that make sure you have squarespaces It's called the squarespace manager for iPhone and you can actually download and basically post blog posts from your smartphone and you know what a lot of people get overwhelmed by blog posts It's a blog post doesn't have to be 500 words It doesn't have to be a thousand words doesn't even have to be 200 words It could be like 50 words But if you have and here's the if on that if you have a supporting image video or audio file with it with that 50 words Okay, so yes, you can have three sentences or ten sentences But basically it goes like this boom whip out your iPhone take snapshot of where you are Open up your squarespace manager for iPhone app Create a post add your image create a unique description of where you were the time of the vent the location Okay, now we're getting geotargeted for the search engines and a small description of how you felt or what you thought about or what was interesting About the blog post the reason why you want to add that second part the interesting how you felt is because you don't always want to Just make a generic title where it was the name of the vent and all that so if you want to add opinion and personality and every single Post that you do because that is 100% authentic and unique anybody else can create a place of time in the vent and that stuff's just Naturally duplicated but opinions aren't and so creating opinion support in a make that image or the video or the audio post and support it supported With an opinion along with the other stuff that I mentioned and just that's it post it and then boom and then the next day What you need to do is take that same image and video or audio and open up your Facebook app Go to your business fan page manager and post it that same image same audio same video feed with another unique description Now what you're doing is you just started on a content sitcation Habit and the the trick to this is not just doing it once a week or once a month But doing it out every single event that you go to and making sure that you're consistent and then You just what you just do you just basically Created 100% unique content that people nobody not any marketing firm could could do a better job than you because they're No matter what the marketing firm is they might go to your location once and post content for you and create like a Content is as startup for you and charge you a ton of money and cash to do so But not any content marketing firm is gonna fall you around unless he's in-house and in-house being probably your 18-year-old son or your wife doing it for you Right?

So the best content marketer the content publisher for your company is you the business owner and don't ever forget that It's going to be 100% authenticated if you want to be fake and you want to be half-ass and you want to pay double or triple or quadruple the prices Then hire a marketing firm to create content for you But if you don't and you want to save a ton of cash and you want to be authentic and you want to be an authority for a Small fraction of the price and time do it yourself from your smartphone Okay, and so now that you've done that and you've created all this content now over the next week or two you watch And you see which posts happened to get the most natural type of Community sharing and likes and involvement and engagement on Facebook And then when you find that golden piece that golden image that video that thing that one piece of content over those last two weeks That did the best that performed the best naturally then you take that piece of content And you go to Facebook and you boost that post using the power editor and targeting only people that are in your Demographics the age group and your targeted area your geo located area and Specific time of day that you believe that your markets going to be on Facebook and you boost that post all it takes is ten bucks ten Twenty thirty bucks maybe and you do it again and again and you repeat and rinse you repeat and rinse you direct them to a landing page That you know is going to perform very well. Okay. Don't get overwhelmed by this you guys It's simple content syndication with a little bit of twist of a boost of Facebook advertising and marketing on the back end And if you're consistent you will make things happen and you will you're gonna do it and you're gonna be far far ahead as all your other competitors I guarantee it I guarantee it I if you just do that's those things that I just discussed over these past 15 minutes You're going to be so far ahead of your competitors in six months from now if you're consistent and if you're doing a great job at being Consciences of what is going viral naturally on Facebook and then applying Facebook's beautiful Advertising platform make sure you research your market first. Okay, make sure that you're using the Google shortener GOO GL shortener on every post that you decide to engage and push traffic to your website so that you can watch and perform and watch Your performing as anyways you really don't have to do the tracking But the bottom line is you be consistent with your content Dedication you as a business owner is going to produce your best content use Facebook's advertising platform and make sure you research your market before doing any of this Be consistent be consistent.
