DOING IT GOD’S WAY 2 Samuel 6:16, 20-23; Selected Scriptures By D.Z. Cofield, Th.M., D. Min. November 29, 2020 Scripture Reading: Psalm 107:1-9 (NLT2) – Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. 2 Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies. 3 For he has gathered the exiles from many lands, from east and west, from north and south. 4 Some wandered in the wilderness, lost and homeless. 5 Hungry and thirsty, they nearly died. 6 “LORD, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he rescued them from their distress. 7 He led them straight to safety, to a city where they could live. 8 Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. 9 For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. How To Stay HIGH When People Go LOW, Pt. 1 1. Realize THE LORD is BLESSING you right NOW (2 Sam. 6:16-17) 2. Remember THE LORD has BLESSED you in your PAST (2 Sam. 6:16, 20—21) How To Stay HIGH When People Go LOW, Pt. 2 1. You must respond to PEOPLE who go LOW in a way that GLORIFIES The LORD (2 Sam. 6:20-23) 2 Samuel 6:20-23 (NLT) – When David returned home to bless his family, Michal came out to meet him and said in disgust, “How glorious the king of Israel looked today! He exposed himself to the servant girls like any indecent person might do!” [21] David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord. So I am willing to act like a fool in order to show my joy in the Lord. [22] Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, but I will be held in honor by the girls of whom you have spoken!” [23] So Michal, the daughter of Saul, remained childless throughout her life. 2 Samuel 6:21 (NLT) – David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord. So I am willing to act like a fool in order to show my joy in the Lord. 2 Samuel 6:22-23 (NLT) – Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, but I will be held in honor by the girls of whom you have spoken!” [23] So Michal, the daughter of Saul, remained childless throughout her life.
