Ian Rosam - The Evolution Of Football Coverage

from Pushing Faders · host Pushing Faders

On the first episode of Pushing Faders, I chat to Ian Rosam about his career and how he and his fellow sound supervisor Robert Edwards created the football coverage we know today. In 1992 the Premier League kicked off in England and Sky Sports' coverage changed how football looks and sounds to this day.  Taking influences from light entertainment sound, Rob and Ian created a whole new standard for sound coverage on football. We discuss these innovations and the progression from mono through to 5.1. The Premier League audio coverage was held in such high regard that HBS asked Ian and Rob to create an audio production plan for the World Cup in 2002 to bring uniformity to the sound at subsequent competitions.
