In this week’s episode Edwina talks to John Podmore. John is an international criminal justice and expert witness consultant. John spent 25 years as a senior manager in the Prison Service of England and Wales during which time he governed three prisons - HMP Swaleside, Brixton and Belmarsh; was a team leader with HM Inspector of Prisons and Head of the Corruption Prevention Unit. He left the Prison Service in 2011. John is a regular commentator and writer. His book ‘Out of sight Out of Mind: why Britain’s prisons are failing’ was published in January 2012 and nominated for the 2013 Orwell Prize.
