In this video, Liz uses this easy-to-understand colour metaphor for the autonomic nervous system, and how we relate to other individuals when we’re in each colour (or "stress") zone. In an anxious world there are a lot of different emotions we are experiencing… from frustration to anger to irritability...We are so anxious and often times we think we are responding appropriately to others. But we actually perceive things so differently depending on which colour zone we’re operating in and that’s how we can relate this all back to becoming more mindfully aware of our state of emotional existence. When we become more aware of the state we're in and actively practice techniques to get more calm, this makes our relationships with our selves, our partners, and our coworkers better.  Psychologist Liz Smalley is from Perth, Australia! Liz holds an honours and master’s degree in psychology, is a registered, practicing psychologist, and has published research. Her most recent ground-breaking research discovered that over 30% of mothers of children with autism have Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) due to the challenging behaviours of their child. This is close to her heart as she is the mother of an adult son who has autism and an intellectual disability. Check out Liz's new book, "When Autism Is Tearing You Apart: A Mother's Recovery Guide To Finding Courage, Confidence, Calm & Compassion" available on Amazon today.  Liz has been working with other clients using their body to recognise and heal trauma, and she’s found, in her own words, “these clients seem to need 'busy' mindfulness, where they are doing something which seems to be soothing, like tapping [check out our last video for education on EFT/Tapping], as well as occupying their mind so they can relax their nervous system.”  Check out Liz's clinical website @ https://www.feelhappynow.com.au/anxiety  *IMPORTANT NOTE:* The business formerly known as Kween Wellness has changed its name to one that doesn't appropriate or commodify a term coined from the black & LGBTQ ball-culture community. We would like to apologize for this mistake on our part and have responsibly rebranded to be more inclusive of communities that we'd like to collaborate with and boost up in the future. We met with several community partners and took into account the lived experience of those in our community as we made the decision to rebrand as Reawaken Co. We stand as an example of a business un-learning, and as an education platform we are committed to do more work to raise the voices of culturally sensitive practitioners -- those who, just like us, have committed to actively unlearning systemic injustices often found in discrete ways in our health systems. No one should fall through the cracks again.  For clients, we focus on helping self-identified women navigate the alternative wellness realm so they can live healthier and have a more enjoyable experience as they access alternative wellness & care.  Do you know of an inspired health practitioner that needs their message boosted? Do you know of a self-identified woman in need of good quality, inclusive, alternative wellness providers?  Send them our way. Thank you.  #inspiringinsights@reawaken_co
