Jack Mulcahy: Cork’s Chicken Inn Legend
from Cork News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Jack Mulcahy, the beloved patriarch behind Cork’s iconic Chicken Inn and a pillar of community life, has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, compassion, and deep-rooted family values. For decades, he and his wife Mary ran the beloved eatery in the English Market, now thriving under their grandchildren’s stewardship. Beyond business, Jack was a devoted Fianna Fáil supporter, peace commissioner, and passionate Glen Rovers fan — but his true impact came from his tireless work supporting young prisoners at Cork Prison. Remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, three sons, and a large circle of grandchildren and friends. A Requiem Mass will be held Monday at Christ King Church, live-streamed for those unable to attend, followed by burial at St Finbarr’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Marymount Hospice or the Irish Cancer Society honor his spirit of giving. Support the show:Get a discount at https://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
