James 3 - Having A Thankful Tongue

Today, Thursday November 26 - James 3 is dealing with the power and influence of one of the littlest members of our bodies, the tongue.  In this chapter we learn that the tongue has the power to direct, the power to destroy and the power to delight like a fountain or a tree.  Today, would be a good day to remember that our tongues can also be used to praise, to give thanks to the Lord God above who has been so good to us.  The Psalmist said, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD...." (Psalm 33:12)  Today it appears that America has lost or is fast losing the blessings of God.  The Psalmist also said, "The nations that forget God shall be cast into hell..." (Psalm 9:17)  The trend today is to replace Thanksgiving Day with Friendsgiving Day.  Instead of acknowledging God and His goodness to us, we push Him aside out of the picture and focus on ourselves and our friends.  It is no wonder that our great country has become a cesspool of evil, corruption, hatred, division, confusion and death!  We can't blame one person.  Today, each of us can make a difference as we cultivate grateful hearts and use our tongue to give thanks and praise the Lord.  God bless!
