Andrew Brackmann, Bridges Alliance ChurchJesus has ultimate, universal authority because of His resurrection..Jesus has authority over sin.(Ac 2:27; Lk 5:8; 1 Pet 2:22; Heb 4:15; 2 Cor 5:21)Jesus was sinless……so He has authority over sin.“You can only serve 1 master” (Mtt 6:24) “Anyone who sins is a slave to sin” (Jn 8:34)Our sin: leash vs. chair (Rom 6:23; 1 Cor 15:55)Jesus has authority over death.(Ac 2:24, 26-27; Jn 10:18)Jesus had authority to choose death, not deserve it unavoidably. (Ac 2:23; Jn 10:18)Death rejected the sinless Jesus after he entered it. (Ac 2:24)Jesus is free from the trappings of death(Ac 2:24, 31) no agony of death(Ac 2:27, 31) no decayGod raised Jesus into eternal life.
