The writer does not diminish Moses. Instead, he affirms Moses’ faithfulness (cf. Numbers 12:7). The argument is not that Moses failed, but that Jesus surpasses him. Jesus is superior to Moses in both person and ministry. For a Jewish audience, Moses was not merely a prophet—he was the deliverer of Israel, the mediator of the covenant, and the one through whom the Law was given. To demonstrate that Christ is better than Moses is to prove that the New Covenant is better than the Old.
