February 11, 2024Series: JesusSermon: Jesus the Coming OneScripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 ” Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so, we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words. “1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 NIV  INTRODUCTION: Today, the uninformed will be informed and those who are unready can get ready for JESUS THE COMING ONE!  The Return…Jesus "But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. (Matthew 25:10 NIV) The Lord himself will come down from heaven… (1 Thess. 4:16 NIV)   After he said this, he was taken up before their eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. (10) They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. (11) Men of Galilee, they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, WILL come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1:9-11 NIV)  The Ready…Wise Ready def.: Fully prepared. The virgins who were ready went in with him (JESUS) to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. (Matt. 25:10 NIV)  The Unready…Foolish Unready def.: Not prepared for a situation.  Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’ “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you; I don’t know you.’ “Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour. “ (Matthew 25:11-13 NIV) CONCLUSION: Considering Jesus’ returning, we need to get ready and live ready! Ready or not here Jesus comes!  "Look he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierce him; and all the people on earth "will mourn because of him."
