People are being deprived of the treatment that doctors want to give them because of a governor with no medical background making a partisan political decision and ignoring the science, endangering valuable American lives. Joey Gilbert, a former boxing champion and currently a practicing attorney in Reno, Nevada with a long history of volunteerism and support of non-profit organizations, specifically those focused on assisting the youth and our veteran communities is now fighting on behalf of coronavirus victims. Since the coronavirus crisis, Governor Sisolak (D) of Nevada has banned much usage of hydroxychloroquine, the treatment touted by President Trump and doctors around the globe. Many patients are not able to use this treatment because of this order. Doctors in the state have been deprived of their medical right to prescribe this drug in an off-label capacity to help patients who are dying. Mr. Gilbert is representing doctors across the state in a bid to force the governor's hand and lift the restrictions that he has unnecessarily placed on this drug. Doctors want to save lives but the orders from this governor are stopping them. The fight is personal for Joey, as both of his parents fell ill with the coronavirus and were saved with this treatment. Joey has been contacted by medical professionals, fireman, veterans, and law enforcement who want access to the drugs either because they are sick or to use as a prophylactic.
