It is what will empower communities, families, young people in times of crisis, low points and hard times. That is why “My Yard” use surplus food as the centre of all their fun & motivational community activities. There are about 8 million people in the UK struggling with food poverty, i.e., difficulty in accessing and affording food. It includes communities with people in work, families with young children, old & disabled people & many more. Neighbourhoods, Harrow, Dalston & Bushey, are one of these thousand communities in the UK that are facing food poverty. Therefore, any excess surplus food or support from volunteers strengthens these communities in challenging food poverty and its many negative consequences that can harm an individual’s health and wellbeing.
