Jude 1:24-25 - "Who Alone is Wise..."

from Pastor Mike Impact Ministries · host Michael L Grooms

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen.” Early this morning as I was meditating on these verses it came to my mind how that Jude wanted to finish his epistle by reminding us what is our main purpose in life. And immediately I recalled the Westminster Catechism written in 1646-47 by the church fathers of Scotland and England. It is a series of 107 questions and answers to composed to teach the children the truths about God and the Bible. The most famous question is: What is the chief end of man? The answer is:  Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever. My friend, you will never find true success or lasting satisfaction and genuine peace unless you are fulfilling the purpose for which God created you! Today we have substituted science, education, money, pleasure and a host of other things for God. When is the last time you heard a political leader say, “We are going to seek God and His Word to find out what we should do about this crisis”?  No, they say, “We are going to follow the science….” When you leave God out of your life and society it won’t be long before you begin to suffer the consequences of it! Chaos, confusion, violence, hatred, division, riots, murder, perversion, suicide and a host of other terrible things will follow! Jude is telling us that Jesus is God and He is our only Savior! He is also telling us the source of all wisdom is God Himself! He is not only our Savior, but He is "the only wise God." Only He alone can give you the wisdom you need to live your life to the glory of God. The false teachers boasted of their special knowledge, but they lacked spiritual wisdom. Paul wrote his first letter to the church at Corinth to correct them because instead of seeking God’s wisdom they had begun to follow people and the wisdom of this world. He wrote: “... For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."  Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God--and righteousness and sanctification and redemption-- that, as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the LORD." (1 Corinthians 1:18-31) James tells us that this wisdom is from above “is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.” (James 3:17) And if we ask God for it He will give it to us! (James 1:5) And it is found in Christ alone! “Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” God Bless!
