Jude 1:5-7 - The Bridge is Out!

Today, Tuesday November 2 The Bridge is Out! Jude 1:5-7 “But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. What if I was driving down a major highway and came to a bridge that had just collapsed but miraculously I was able to stop just in the nick of time to keep from going over the end of the road to a certain death, and then I simply went on my merry way, thankful that I was saved, but never did one thing to warn others who were headed in this same direction who would certainly plunge to their death if someone did not warn and stop them. What kind of person would you consider me to be? What if I came up with a sure cure for Covid-19 with a pill that would both cure me if I took it, and also protect me from ever getting it, and then I only gave it to myself, my family and my close friends and never told anyone else about it. What kind of person would you consider me to be? I’m pretty sure you, like me would consider such a person who was so selfishly thinking only of themselves, when they could have saved the lives of hundreds or even millions of people from sure death, to be guilty of murder! To know the danger and have the cure but not share it would be consider the worst of crimes! Jude is a book of warning of coming judgement and punishment to any and all who reject God and His truth! Some people read a book like this and think how harsh or mean God is, that He would send punishment and eternal damnation to anyone. Matter of fact, today there are those who seem teach good God, good devil and good everybody! They try to tell us that God is such a God of grace, love and mercy that He would never punish anyone for anything. But my friend, they are wrong! Jude is warning us that the bridge is out! Jesus basically said it this way in Matthew 7:13-15: "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.” The false prophets, false teachers and apostates are today still telling us not to worry about it! But Proverbs 14:12 warns us that: “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”  The broad bridge that the false teachers are telling us about is an illusion! It is not there and if you keep going down that “broad path” with the multitudes you will surely perish one day! My friend, it is my responsibility to warn you, the bridge that looks so good is out! It’s not really even there! But also be encouraged! There is a Bridge that crosses the chasm of death and that leads to life!  That Bridge is a person called Jesus! Only He can save us from our certain death and destruction because He paid the price for our sin with His own death! He is the only Bridge over “troubled waters”! Today believe and trust Jesus and enter true life by “the Narrow Gate”! God bless!
