However, lack of judgment is not something we can afford. Our world is full of victims of abuse, violence, and oppression, and in many cases, evil goes unnoticed or unpunished. A future without hope of judgment is a future without peace. And if there is no hope of judgment, victims would be driven to despair or to be consumed by a desire for revenge. A future that includes judgment, however, gives those who are wronged the peace of knowing that one day there will be perfect justice. Today we hear God’s promise to return and bring perfect judgment and justice.
